Directory will be the world’s largest resource for women to inspire and book travel

by JourneyWoman staff

Two of travel’s most innovative companies have joined forces to offer women a trusted platform for finding and booking organized travel experiences. With more than 6,600 curated trips for women available now, the JourneyWoman Travel Directory, powered by TourRadar, is the first and largest resource for women to inspire and book travel, providing travellers with experiences to choose from vetted JourneyWoman partners. In addition to search criteria such as destination, type of travel, budget and date, women will be able to search for trips run by women-owned small businesses, women-only groups, find companies that offer no or low single supplement, last-minute deals and more.

“From JourneyWoman’s research, we know that the women 50+ and solo travel market is one of the fastest growing in the world, and will more than double to US$519 billion by 2035,” says Travis Pittman, CEO, TourRadar. “We admire what JourneyWoman has done to support women travellers and women-owned businesses for more than three decades with its existing Women’s Travel Directory. With more than 50,000 trips online and 2 million people using TourRadar on a monthly basis, we can provide the technology platform to scale this Directory and make it easier and more affordable for women to book trips from trusted suppliers and find experiences they even didn’t know existed.”

“This partnership is a win-win for both the traveller and the travel company,” says Carolyn Ray, CEO, JourneyWoman. “For decades, our Women’s Travel Directory has been a trusted resource for women to find companies to travel with, rather than rely on a general Internet search.  TourRadar’s technology platform will make it even easier and more affordable for our partners to scale and grow their businesses, while providing women with a trusted one-stop resource to find and book some of the world’s most unique travel experiences.”

Women over 50 make 98% of all travel decisions, research says

Women are the most important decision makers in travel, with JourneyWoman’s research, “Invisible No More: The Ageless Adventuress”, showing that 98% of women over 50 make their own travel decisions and book travel independently. The study, which was completed in March 2025, shows that 61% of women 50+ market prefer to travel solo, and will spend US$152 billion in the US and Canada, growing to US$363 bn or 25.2 million women by 2035. This represents a 138% spending increase in solo travel from 2025 to 2035. TourRadar also sees this trend in its data, with half of its bookings on the platform coming from solo travellers.

For travel companies, the Women’s Travel Directory powered by TourRadar will offer an Operator Dashboard designed to simplify daily operations, enabling partners to efficiently manage their tour inventory, view and respond to enquiries and bookings, access in-depth analytics, provide a third-party review platform, and process payments seamlessly. Furthermore, operators can benefit from TourRadar’s global presence and extensive customer base, gaining access to new markets that help boost brand awareness and increase bookings. TourRadar continues to invest heavily in social media, search, AI, and other advanced technologies to ensure all partners benefit from increased visibility, efficiency, and growth opportunities on the platform. JourneyWoman will work closely with TourRadar to create marketing campaigns targeting the woman 50+ traveller.

To become members of the JourneyWoman’s Travel Directory, businesses must undergo JourneyWoman’s comprehensive verification process, which includes a business review, leadership interview and other criteria. There are four levels of membership, ranging from startups to large global companies, each with associated brand-building benefits.  New applicants are invited to apply here.
